Second helping of ‘Take-Out Thursdays’ offered

Barrington parish happy to bring back crowd-pleasing event

The second in a series of “Take-Out Thursdays” will be held on Oct. 20 at Holy Angels Church on Maple Avenue.

According to spokesperson Shawn DeHart of the parish’s social events committee, the first Take-Out Thursday was a huge success.

“Our Take-Out Thursday last month was the first one since before the pandemic and we were happy to be able to bring it back,” he said. “Fortunately, a lot of people, some who supported this charity food sale in the past, and others who decided to check it out for the first time, told us they really enjoyed it.

“We want to thank everyone who made our Take-Out Thursday in September a great success and we hope we can receive the same kind of support on October 20.”

DeHart added: “Proceeds benefit the efforts of the parish's Social Outreach Ministry, whose mission is to provide for those in need.”

Menu options on Oct. 20 include: Kids mac and cheese ($5), hearty minestrone soup (pint is $6, quart is $8), three-cheese lasagna ($14), classic meat and cheese lasagna ($14), and pumpkin swirl cake ($3).

To anyone who would like to order, or if you have any questions about the fund-raiser, call or text Judy at 465-8439 or Barbara at 249-1104. People can place an order let organizers know what time they will be coming to pick up the food, between 3:30 and 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 20.

Church volunteers will have it ready for pickup in the presentation room that's adjacent to the church.

The Bishop Hickey Council of the Knights of Columbus also made a generous donation to help offset the expenses of Take-Out Thursday the last time.

“We truly appreciate their generosity,” DeHart said.
