Theodora Oakes O’Hara, 95, of Little Compton, RI. Wife of the late Charles E. O’Hara, they raised their children in New Canaan, CT and Little Compton, RI, becoming permanent residents of Little Compton in 1975.
Born in Greenwich, CT, a daughter to the late Malcolm Oakes and Katharine (Pomeroy) Oakes, she was raised in Port Chester, NY.
Mrs. O’Hara attended Greenwich Academy, Miss Porter’s School, Friends Seminary and Cornell University. She was a member of the United Congregational Church in Little Compton, Warren’s Point Beach Club and the Sogkonate Garden Club.
She is survived by her children, David Oakes O’Hara and his wife Janet L. O’Hara of Hamilton, MA, Charles E. O’Hara IV of Newport, RI and Katherine P. Newman and her husband Thomas R. Newman of Middletown, RI, she had six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and 10 nieces and nephews. She had also been the mother-in-law to Bernard D. Connelly and Karen P. O’Hara.
She is predeceased by her daughter, Theodora Anne O’Hara, and her sisters, Helen Piffard Kerr and Katharine P. McFarlan. She is also predeceased by her stepmother, Antoinette Dorr Oakes and her children Linda Tuck, Phyllis Gander and Burr Hardon.
