Viriato Bernardo Raposo, 65, of Tremont Street, Rehoboth, Mass., passed away on Feb. 25 at Morton Hospital. He was the husband of Irondina (Cordeiro) Raposo.
Born in Cobouco, Lagoa, St. Michael, Azores, he was the son of the late Manuel Bernardo Raposo and Maria deNascimento (Pacheco) Raposo. He was a landscaper for Ledgemont Country Club in Seekonk before retiring.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Laura Medeiros of Bristol, Viriato Raposo of Seekonk, Ana Borges of Fall River and Elizabeth Barbosa of Rehoboth, with whom he lived; grandchildren Matthew Medeiros, Mack Medeiros, Veronica Medeiros, Thea Raposo, Amanda Raposo, Taylor Raposo, Gabriella Raposo, Kate Raposo, Jessica Crossley, Aniessa Correira, Hannah Borges, Sheyenne Borges, Josephine Borges, Lauren Barbosa and Makalya Barbosa; and great grandchildren Matthew Medeiros, Jr., Aela Maynard and Serenity Correira. He was the brother of Zenida Rufino of Warren, Eduardo Raposo and Armando Raposo of St. Michael, Azores, and the late Manuel Raposo and Joao Raposo.
His funeral services were held March 2 from the George Lima Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Rev. Luis Dutra and concelebrated by Rev. Richard Wilson at St. Elizabeth Church. Liturgical readings were by Veronica Medeiros and Connie Cabral. The Prayer of the Faithful was read by Makalya Barbosa. The offertory gifts were presented by Hannah Borges, Lauren Barbosa and Gabby Raposo. Burial followed in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Joseph Borges, John Medeiros, Paul Barbosa, Matthew Medeiros, Viriato Raposo and Mack Medeiros.
