Volunteer Open House & Orientation

Posted

New and potential volunteers are invited to jump-start a rewarding and life-changing experience!

Interested in helping rescued farm animals? Want to learn more about volunteering at West Place? Looking to visit before joining the team?

Join us for one of two Open House & Orientation sessions designed for new and prospective volunteers! You'll talk with staff, take a brief tour of the sanctuary, and meet a few of the farm animals who need your help.

Volunteering is a rewarding experience that provides opportunities to learn new skills, meet new friends, and make a direct impact. Since 2007, West Place has rescued, rehabilitated, and provided lifelong care to farm animals from cruelty, abuse, and neglect. Our non-profit is powered by volunteers and we are always seeking dedicated, reliable, and compassionate individuals to contribute in a variety of ways.

To register for the Open House & Orientations session, simply fill out an online volunteer application and one of our staff members will contact you. The application is non-binding and is the first step towards joining the farm family at West Place!

Questions? Contact us at info@westplace.org or 401-228-6800 ext. 1.

Meet our staff
Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
