Volunteers needed for Earth Day cleanup in Barrington
First 50 volunteers will receive free T-Shirt
People are invited to join Barrington’s “Keep Rhode Island Litter Free” effort on Earth Day.
Volunteers should meet in front of Town Hall on Monday, April 22 for on-site registration opening at 6 p.m. Starting around 6:30 p.m., volunteers will walk in groups along assigned routes and pick up trash along the way, returning to Town Hall around 7 p.m. (Or later if volunteers want to do more.)
Teams will focus on specific walking routes in the County Road commercial district, on sections of the East Bay Bike Path near County Road, and around Wood’s Pond outside Barrington Public Library.
Funding for this effort comes from a $750 Litter-Free Rhode Island Cleanup and Beautification grant awarded by the State. Gloves, trash bags, and grabbers will be provided.
The first 50 participants will receive a T-shirt. Anyone interested in participating should come to Barrington Town Hall starting at 6 p.m. on the day of the event and sign up.
