Voters favor incumbents for Bristol Town Council seats
In an Election Day unlike any other, when the results did not come into focus until 1:10 a.m. on Wednesday, it appears the five incumbents will continue to serve on the Bristol Town Council.
After the Rhode Island Board of Elections finally released nearly 7,500 mail and emergency ballot results from Bristol Wednesday morning, the five highest vote-getters were Nathan Calouro (D), Tony Teixeira (I), Mary Parella (R), Timothy Sweeney (D) and Aaron Ley (D), in that order.
Michael Byrnes (I) is 371 votes behind, in sixth place. The state is expected to count more votes on Wednesday from ballots that were left in a secure box at Bristol Town Hall, but the race does not appear to be close enough for those votes to change the outcome.
