The George Hail Library will begin renovations in August to improve handicap accessibility into the building and for bathrooms inside the library.

According to Library Director, Chris Matos, funding has been made available through a grant from the Champlin Foundation.

“Built in 1887, George Hail Library is a beautiful, historical building that continues to be a focal point on the Warren skyline and an invaluable resource for our patrons and community. The library staff and Board of Trustees work hard to maintain the site and preserve its integrity while keeping its facilities updated and accessible for the Warren community,” Matos said in a statement. “Since the American Disabilities Act was enacted it has been the library’s goal to update our building to meet these requirements and provide the best service for our patrons. Thankfully with a grant from the Champlin Foundation we are beginning to make some improvements.”

Matos said that the accessible entrance will be completely revamped so that it is nearer to the existing parking lot with a new door and better drainage. Bathrooms inside the library will be updated to provide more space for wheelchair access.
