Warren Memorial Day events start Sunday morning, continue on Monday

The Town of Warren will begin it’s Memorial Day Remembrance on Sunday, May 28, 2023 at 9:00 a.m. with a Memorial Recognition Program to be held at the Town’s Vietnam Memorial marker (located at the junction of Route 136 and Market Street). This year’s Emphasis will be on “Reflections of Stephen “Mike” Siembab.”

On Monday, May 29, 2023, Naval Honors will be rendered at the Town Wharf at 8:15 a.m. for all Navy Veterans. At 9:00 a.m. Military Honors and a brief recognition program will take place at the Town’s Honor Roll on the Town Commons.

The annual Memorial Day Parade (begins at 9:30 a.m. from the Town Commons) followed by a Speaking Program (Principal Speaker Mr. Bruce F. Cotta, Vietnam Combat Medic and Silver Star recipient) commencing at the South Burial Ground to Honor all Warren’s armed forces veterans and their families.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
