Warren PD: Police arrest seven, including two in one traffic stop

Monday, July 22

Police were called to Campbell Street to assist someone going through an overdose at 11:55 a.m.

Police were called to check on a man who was reportedly sleeping near the lifeguard station at the Warren Town Beach at 11:59 a.m. but he was gone when they arrived.

Antonio A. Curry, 35, of 72 Baxter St., Providence, was arrested on Child Street with an active Family Court Bench Warrant at 2:35 p.m. He was later transported to the ACI.

Tuesday, July 23

Police received a call from a woman at 2:47 a.m. stating she had been sexually assaulted but the line disconnected before they could gather any more info as to her whereabouts.

A caller complained to police at 9:42 a.m. that they were being harassed by their employer.

Police advised on a civil matter between people on Metacom Avenue regarding the repair of a lawnmower.

A man reported at 5:19 p.m. that a family member’s boyfriend had intentionally broken his hockey stick.

A caller from Libby Lane asked to speak with an officer at 5:57 p.m. regarding a debit card that was taken without permission.

Police assisted DEM officers on New Industrial Road at 7:45 p.m. Four people were cited by DEM as a result.

Police received a report at 7:50 p.m. that there were two men loitering in the area of Main and Water Streets smoking marijuana, and one was reportedly observed urinating by a parked vehicle. Police didn’t find any evidence to confirm the report.

Wednesday, July 24

A Touisset Road resident called to report a bat had gotten inside their bedroom at 4:00 a.m. They closed the animal in the room and awaited animal control.

Police looked into a dog bite that occurred some time prior to the report on Child Street.

A Barden Lane resident reported at 1:08 p.m. that a scooter had been stolen over the previous night and they had footage of the incident on security cameras.

Police received a report from Metacom Avenue indicating that two teenagers were looking into a backyard before noticing a Ring doorbell camera, and stating they “would be back later.”

Thursday, July 25

Joseph W. Benoit, 24, of 34 Croade St., Apt. #3, Warren, was arrested at 1:18 a.m. on Metacom Avenue following the report of a domestic incident. He was charged with first degree sexual assault and two counts of domestic violence (refusal to relinquish/damaging/obstructing a telephone, and disorderly conduct, both first offenses). He was arraigned and later transported to 2nd District Court.

Police dispersed a group of juveniles from Turner Street at 2:27 a.m.

A caller reported that a loose husky had attacked her dog while walking on Market Street, but didn’t cause injuries. The owner of the dog was contacted.

Douglas S. DeMarco, 65, of 100 Taunton Ave., Apt. #B412, Plainville, Mass., was arrested on Valley Road by Middleton Police for a warrant out of Warren. He was charged with one count of obtaining property by false pretenses or impersonation (value of less than $1,500). He was later arraigned and released.

Police dispersed a man from a West Street address who was apparently living in a tent in the back yard.

Bristol PD were notified at 6:08 p.m. following a report that a vehicle had been struck several times in a parking lot on Metacom Avenue in Warren before leaving the scene and going south. Bristol PD were about to find the person.

Friday, July 26

A Mason Street resident reported that accounts had been opened in their name without their consent at 12:51 p.m.

Police checked on a man who was lying by the sidewalk near Market and Mason Streets at 2:50 p.m. They found no issue, he reported he “was just tired from working late.”

As the result of a motor vehicle stop on Union Street at 6:19 p.m., two individuals were arrested. Robert Carson, 41, of 195 Main St., Apt. #1, Warren, was charged with possession of a Schedule I-V controlled substance (first offense), one misdemeanor count of conspiracy (drugs), and driving without a valid license (4th+ offense). He was later arraigned and transported to the ACI. Jessica L. Sylvia, 37, also of 195 Main St., Apt. #1, Warren, was charged with possession of a Schedule I-V controlled substance (first offense), misdemeanor conspiracy (drugs), resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct. She was arraigned and later released.

Saturday, July 27

Police asked a resident of an Arlington Avenue apartment to stop slamming doors at 11:26 a.m. after a noise complaint was made.

Police dispersed someone who was sitting on chairs in front of a home on Water Street at 1:54 p.m.

Fire personnel responded to Child Street at 2:41 p.m. after a swan apparently flew into nearby power lines.

Police received a report from a passerby on Wood Street that they had found feces covered in a paper towel near the park. A voicemail was left for DPW.

A fireworks complaint was logged near Cherry and King Streets at 9:45 p.m. but police found no one there.

Sunday, July 28

Heather A. Ray, 33, of 43 Franklin St., Warren, was arrested at 12:36 a.m. following a motor vehicle stop. She was charged with DUI of liquor (BAC .15 or greater, first offense). She was arraigned and released later that morning.

Jeffrey J. Sheehan, 25, of 347 Metacom Ave., Warren, was arrested following a 911 call that resulted in a hangup. He was charged with three counts of domestic violence (simple assault and/or battery, refusal to relinquish/damaging/obstructing a telephone, and disorderly conduct, all first offenses).
