Warren PD: Police make four arrests, respond to car vandalism

Monday, June 17
Police followed up on a dog bite that occurred previously on Main Street at 7:44 a.m.

A caller on Metacom Avenue reported at 6:08 p.m. that the window of their vehicle had been smashed.

Tuesday, June 18
A Seymour Street resident reported at 7:58 a.m. that their car’s tires had been slashed over the previous night.

A caller reported at 9:49 a.m. that a dog was loose in their business on Child Street. The dog was later returned to its home.

A mulch fire was extinguished on Metacom Avenue at 10:09 a.m.

A baby bird was rescued at a Main Street address by the animal control officer at 1:26 p.m.

Seekonk Police issued a BOLO for a shoplifting suspect in the area at 5:58 p.m.

Wednesday, June 19
Police responded to Laurel Lane at 3:01 a.m. for the report of a loud group of kids walking towards the Town Beach area. They were transported back to Bristol shortly after the call.

A call to 911 at 8:32 p.m. indicated that a UPS driver had received a laceration from a dog bite near Main and Greene Streets. The driver was transported to the hospital.

Thursday, June 20
Threats were reported on Child Street at 6:55 a.m.

Units responded to Water Street at 8:21 a.m. for what was described as an “industrial accident” resulting in an arm injury. OSHA reported to the scene shortly afterwards to assess what had happened.

Juveniles spoke to police at headquarters at 7:50 p.m. regarding a cell phone that was taken away by a parent. The police instructed them to speak to the owner of the phone if they wished to file a complaint.
A Park Street resident reported a letter in the mail from Jehovah’s Witnesses as “suspicious” at 8:39 p.m.

Police talked to juveniles who were reportedly climbing a building on Turner Street at 9:10 p.m. They were dispersed from the area.

Rhode Island Energy was advised of damage to a utility pole near Water and Wheaton Streets following a motor vehicle accident at 10:03 p.m. One person was transported to the hospital as a result of the crash.

Friday, June 21
A caller on Market Street reported at 6:11 a.m. that a former employee was caught going through company vehicles.

A caller on Main Street reported at 11:08 a.m. that there appeared to be a bullet hole in the wall and window of the property. Detectives were called to respond to the scene.

A caller reported that there was a man sitting in the road on Mason Street at 12:21 p.m. in an office chair who appeared to be intoxicated. Upon speaking with the man, he told police he was ‘using the chair to get himself home’ and did not require assistance.

Detectives were called to a home on Child Street at 3:18 p.m. after a man came home and found that an entry door to an apartment appeared to have been forced open.

Saturday, June 22
Emanuel R. Santos, 46, of 11 Arlington Ave., Apt. #3, Warren, was arrested on a warrant at 12:30 a.m. on Arlington Avenue. He was charged with two counts of domestic violence (criminal violation of a not contact order, first and second offense).

Mahammad Nazarli, 30, of 800 Pleasant St., Apt. #1007, New Bedford, Mass., was arrested following a motor vehicle stop near Main and Miller Streets at 2:01 a.m. He was charged with DUI of liquor (BAC unknown, first offense), refusal to submit to a chemical test, and carrying a weapon while under the influence of liquor or drugs. He was arraigned and released later that morning.

A tree falling on Overhill Road at 10:58 p.m. resulted in a power outage in the area. Rhode Island Energy and the Warren DPW were advised of the situation.

Sunday, June 23
Timothy D. Simon, 56, of 700 Metacom Ave., Apt. #119, Warren, was arrested following a report on Metacom Avenue that a man was in a parking lot yelling with a firearm in his hand. He was charged with not having a license or permit to carry a concealed pistol or revolver, threatening a public official, carrying a weapon while under the influence of liquor or drugs, possession of prohibited weapons other than firearms, and disorderly conduct. He was arraigned and transported to the ACI later that morning.

A skunk was reportedly caught in a trap on Colonial Drive at 9:18 a.m. It was freed shortly after and was given to the custody of a wildlife rehabilitation facility.

Cody M. Joly, 18, of 25 Homestead Ave., Warren, was arrested following a report of an argument between a child and mother at 3:42 p.m. He was charged with two counts of domestic violence (simple assault and/or battery, and disorderly conduct, both first offenses), and possessing prohibited weapons other than firearms. He was arraigned and later released.
