Warren PD: Woman arrested after falling asleep with child in car

Monday, Aug. 12
A Franklin Street resident called police at 9:14 a.m. as a way to scare their juvenile son into leaving the premises.

A Cutler Street resident reported a dispute with a neighbor over a grill at 9:59 a.m.

A Maddy Avenue resident reported that a neighbor’s drilling was making excessive noise at 2:21 p.m. They were advised to quiet down the work for the day.

A caller on Cutler Street reported at 2:51 p.m. that their tires had been slashed.

Bristol PD received an anonymous tip at 4:43 p.m. that a Warren business on Main Street was serving alcohol to underaged people. It was passed onto detectives.

Police dispersed a man from Child Street at 6:41 p.m. after he was reportedly causing a disturbance by yelling loudly.

Tuesday, Aug. 13
DPW was alerted at 11:53 a.m. of a tree that was ready to fall on Ridgeway Drive.

Police spoke to someone on Nobert Street at 1:39 p.m. who was reportedly lying on nearby grass who was reported by someone else. They were fine.

Chickens were reported in the road on Main Street at 6:46 p.m. The owner was contacted and retrieved the birds.

Wednesday, Aug. 14
Kelley J. Serpa, 37, of 511 Child St., Apt. #603, Warren, was arrested following a wellbeing check conducted on a vehicle that was pulled to the side of a drive-thru lane at a restaurant on Metacom Avenue at 6:35 a.m., reportedly asleep in the front with a child in the back seat. She was charged with DUI of liquor/drugs (while having a child under 13 years old as a passenger), first offense, one count of child endangerment, and refusal to submit to a chemical test.

Illegal dumping was reported on Commercial Way at 9:30 a.m.

The animal control officer had to intervene on Child Street at 9:47 a.m. for a baby skunk that would not “go away.” It was transported to the animal shelter to be later transferred to a wildlife rehabilitation facility.

A “decoration” was stolen from a Water Street address at 11:21 a.m.

Adrianna M. Shaw Cardoso, 28, of 23 Hans St., Cranston, was arrested following a motor vehicle stop near Market Street and Schoolhouse Road at 5:02 p.m. She was charged with operating a vehicle with an unsealed alcoholic beverage (first offense), and driving without a valid license (second offense). She was released later that evening.

A Joyce Street resident reported someone might have broken into their apartment while they were asleep at 10:01 p.m.

Police dispersed people who were reportedly testing new fishing poles by the bridge near Schoolhouse and Serpentine Roads at 10:20 p.m. following a suspicious person report.

Thursday, Aug. 15
A car on Main Street was struck while parked at 11:48 a.m.

Police received a report at 3:02 p.m. that three juveniles were suspected of a breaking and entering incident on Metacom Avenue that had happened in the past and resulted in damage to a property. Police caught up with juveniles matching the description but no further activity was reported in the log.

A caller reported being the victim of a hit and run on Child Street at 4:57 p.m., resulting in minor damage to their vehicle. They didn’t wish to pursue the issue.

Friday, Aug. 16
Police received a report that a bicycle had been stolen from Church Street at 8:04 a.m. It was later located in the river.

Police placed a 48-hour removal tag on a vehicle on Warren Avenue at 8:45 a.m. that had reportedly been parked in the area for months without moving.

A snapping turtle was reported on Serpentine Road at 10:13 a.m.

A rescue was requested to Metacom Avenue following a report at 4:07 p.m. regarding a woman sitting against a dumpster in the rear of a building.

A man came into police headquarters at 4:21 p.m. to report items had been stolen from their shop while they were out on display on the sidewalk.

Saturday, Aug. 17
Delbert W. Andrews, 48, of 24 Greene St., Apt. #3, Warren, was arrested following a motor vehicle stop near Child and Adams Streets at 1:18 a.m. He was charged with DUI of liquor (BAC unknown, first offense), driving after denial/revocation/suspension for certain violations, first offense, and refusal to submit to a chemical test. They were arraigned and later transported to the ACI later that morning.

A caller reported to police at 7:37 p.m. that while leaving a restaurant on Metacom Avenue they saw a man strike a juvenile boy. Police spoke to the man and the juvenile and both denied the allegation.

A Water Street woman reported their vehicle had been stolen at 11:19 p.m. After checking various addresses and not finding the vehicle, it was entered into the stolen vehicle database.

Sunday, Aug. 18
A caller reported someone was operating a white motor scooter with a loud exhaust at high rates of speed and ignoring stop signs in the area of Water and Campbell Streets at 8:39 a.m. Police didn’t find the operator.

The stolen vehicle from the last log in the Saturday section was recovered on Narragansett Way, and they then remembered they had parked it there the previous night.

Jason D. Kirkwood, 41, of 104 Kickemuit Rd., Warren, was arrested on Main Street at 6:30 p.m. He was charged with two counts of domestic violence (simple assault and/or battery, and disorderly conduct, both first offenses), and one count of vandalism. He was transported to court the following morning.

Monday, Aug. 19
A Main Street resident reported at 5:47 a.m. that their vehicle had been vandalized the night prior.
