Warren's summer concert and movie series continues

The Warren Parks & Recreation Department is hosting its 2024 Summer Concert & Movie Series at the Burr’s Hill Park bandshell, Water Street, Warren. All events are free.

Concert schedule

Summer concerts are on Sundays from 5 to 8 p.m. Bring blankets and chairs and pack a picnic dinner or snacks. Leashed dogs are welcome.

• July 14: Down City Band (top hits party band)

• July 21: Patterson Smith Trio (jazz, swing, R&B) and East Bay Wind Ensemble (classical)

• July 28: Steppin’ Out (R&B)

• Aug. 4: Platinum Thrill (modern/hard rock) and American Idol

• Aug. 11: Back in the Day (’80s tribute)

• Aug. 18: Becky Chase Band (blues, roots, R&B, folk)

• Aug. 25: Crushed Velvet (rock)

Movie schedule for
Cars Under the Stars

Movies are on Thursdays. Gates open at 6:30 p.m., with the movie starting at 8:30 (dusk).

• Aug. 8: “Super Mario Bros. Movie.

• Aug. 15: “Barbie” (Family Fun Night)

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
