Waterfire returns to Providence on Saturday

Waterfire Providence is hosting a full lighting this Saturday, Sept. 24, in downtown Providence. The program begins at sunset (6:39 p.m.) and continues until midnight.

A food fair and artisans market begins at 5:30 p.m.

The theme for the event is "Celebrating Educational Excellence," in collaboration with the Rhode Island Department of Education. A "Teacher of the Year" awards ceremony will be held in Memorial Park from 3 to 6:30 p.m. XQ Institute’s XQ+RI Teachers’ Lounge will be open on the Washington Street Bridge from 6 to 10 p.m.
