Helen A. Biszko, 96, Tiverton

Helen A. Biszko, 96, formerly of Kaufman Road, Tiverton, passed away on March 5, 2021.  Born in Fall River, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Anna (Szczepanic) and Michael Zwolinski.  She was the widow of Raymond Biszko, to whom she was married for 62 years before his passing. 

A homemaker, she had been a member of the Friends of St. Anne at Holy Ghost Parish.  

She is survived by a son, Raymond J. Biszko and his wife Laurie of Tiverton; along with her grandchildren, Major John Paul Biszko (wife Nyssa) of Illinois, Libby M. Biszko of Michigan, Kathryn M. Whitley (husband Thomas) of Georgia and Bethany M. Biszko of Virginia. Great grandchildren are Carol and Annette Biszko and Charlotte Whitley.  She is survived by a sister, Irene Hrycin of Fall River, and several nieces and nephews.  Late siblings are Michael Zwolinski and Frances West. 

Private services were under the direction of the Pocasset Memorial Funeral Home, 462 Main Road, Tiverton.  A Funeral Mass was celebrated at Holy Ghost Church and entombment was at Notre Dame Mausoleum.  www.almeida-pocasset.com for on line guest book.  Donations may be made to Holy Ghost Church in her memory at 311 Hooper St., Tiverton, RI 02878.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
