Tiverton police: Six arrests, man cited for junk cars

Monday, April 1

A caller from Linda Road complained of the sound of blasting just after 12:30 p.m.

Manuel Calvao, 71, of 228 Irvington St., New Bedford, was charged with vandalism after turning himself in at the sttion.

A Crandall Road resident reported a scam at 5:12 p.m.

Police tried to serve a restraining order at a Bulgarmarsh Road home at 5:24 p.m., but were unsuccessful.

A caller from Harbor Ridge Lane reported an open door or window. Police investigated the 10:28 p.m. call but found nothing amiss.

Tuesday, April 2

A caller reported a suspicious vehicle on Stafford Road just after 8 a.m., but it was gone before officers arrived.

A Hilton Street resident filed a missing person report at 9:23 a.m.

A caller from Narrow Avenue lodged an animal complaint at 9:51 a.m., but police deemed it unfounded.

A Tiverton resident reported vandalism at a Progress Way business.

Police looked for but could not locate an erratic driver reported via phone at 1:26 p.m. on Main Road.

Police served a restraining order on Bulgarmarsh Road at 2:42 p.m.

A Fish Road resident reported a neighbor dispute just after 3 p.m.

A Church Pond Drive caller complained of vandalism at 10:22 p.m.

Wednesday, April 3

Jose Eduardo Bento, 61, of 104 Fifth St., Fall River, was charged with driving under the influence of liquor, BAC unknown, after police pulled him over on Tiverton Casino Boulevard at 2:52 a.m.

Police investigated a report of a disorderly person at the Tiverton Casino at 6:09 a.m.

A driver was warned after being pulled over on Route 24, following a 911 placed by another driver at 8:53 a.m.

An animal complaint that came in from Hooper Street just after 10 a.m. was deemed unfounded.

A caller from Main Road reported a theft at 1:36 p.m.

A Chace Avenue resident reported a trespasser at 6:17 p.m.

Friday, April 5

Chanel L. Graves, 33, of 123 Persimmon Drive, was charged with reckless driving and other offenses against public safety.

A Stafford Road resident complained of larceny at 7:17 a.m. A similar call came in from Brayton Road just before 3 p.m.

An animal complaint came in from Russell Drive at 1:26 p.m., but police said there was no issue.

Police looked for but could not locate an erratic driver called in from Main Road at 3:18 p.m.

Saturday, April 6

A caller reported a suspicious person on Main Road at 8:21 a.m.

Scott N. Brown, 52, of 7 Shove St., was cited for violating town ordinances for storing junk vehicles.

An animal complaint that came in via 911 from Ford Road at 1:25 p.m. was deemed unfounded by police.

A 911 caller reported a domestic incident at a Stafford Road home just before 3:30 p.m.

Manuel D. Almeida, 35, of 549 Cottage St., Apt. 2, New Bedford, was arrested on a Third Division District Court bench warrant after police pulled him over on Tiverton Casino Boulevard at 5:39 p.m.

Claudia E. Barboza, 48, of 697 Davol St., Fall River, was charged with driving under the influence of liquor after police pulled her over on Route 24 at 9:44 p.m.

Sunday, April 7

Police were called to a disturbance on Hambly Road at 12:07 a.m.

A caller from Fish Road complained of vandalism at 2:20 p.m.

A caller from East Road reported harassment and threats at 4:46 p.m.

Manuel A. Gomes, 55, of 109 Garfield St, Apt. 1, Quincy, was charged with driving under the influence of liquor after police pulled him over on Route 25 at 10:55 p.m.
