Charlie Knapman and Ben Browne each scored 3 goals as the Mt. Hope lacrosse team pounded Toll Gate 12-5 in the Division 3 quarterfinals at home on Thursday night. Goalkeeper Ethan Labolita made 15 saves in the victory. Will Stimson, Noah Sweeney each scored 2 goals, Nate Carpenter and Aedan Nelson each scored 1 for the Huskies who move on to play Smithfield in the semifinals at Smithfield on Wednesday night at 5 p.m.

James Thibaudeau was instrumental in the victory over Toll Gate, winning 12 of 20 face-offs, giving the Huskies an advantage in offensive possession. Knapman and Browne, both sophomores, have led the Huskies in goals this season. Knapman scored 40 goals in 15 games and Browne scored 27 for the 9-6 Huskies who are the 4th seed in the tournament.

Smithfield beat Mt. Hope in both regular season games, the first a 13-5 win and the second a 12-3 beating. The Huskies will have limit Northmen leading scorer Nick Pike’s scoring opportunities. Pike, a senior, scored 49 goals this season.
