To the editor:
Every once in a while, someone writes an opinion piece in The Phoenix that is so outrageous that it has to be challenged. This writer alleges that people who voted for Mr. Gabe Amo are insane. Mr. Amo is the Democract who won the special election to replace David Cicilline.
The House of Representatives is controlled by the Republicans, but unfortunately quite a few are extreme, right wing conservatives, resulting in bickering and chaos within their party. This has led to their Speaker being ejected and, after a long delay, finding a new one. The most egregious behavior is trying to add amendments to the spending bill to reduce the salary of some government employees to one dollar per year. These have no chance of passing. To date, they have attempted this 31 times. THIRTY ONE. All the while important legislation, work they were sent to Washington to do, gets sidelined. This is what I call insanity.
So, I ask you, why would I vote to send another Republican into this Republican-create chaos?
The writer thinks we are either “misinformed, naive, cowardly, or complicit.” Gee, he forgot “vermin.” Oh well, maybe next week we will be vermin.
