Letter: Look to Republicans for the true insanity

Posted

To the editor:

In response to Pete Hewett’s letter to the editor, “Rhode Island voters do not seem able to get it," dated Nov. 16, I offer the following observation.
Before Mr. Hewett casts anymore stones disparaging any candidate, political affiliation or the voters for that matter, might I suggest he look inward to his own Republican party and the complete insanity that resides there. What an absolute embarrassment how they are conducting themselves in Congress and their loyal support of political insurrection. Talk about insanity. If it was left to the current Republican Party, this country would be going down a rabbit hole with no possible return.

The voters of our country, state and perhaps this town need to start looking for candidates who are elected to truly serve the people and not their own self interests or lobbyists. But since that seems to be the exception and not the rule, then I suspect the political insanity will continue to flourish. We still have a Constitution in place that gives each and every voter the right to choose and I would prefer to live with the insanity of choice by the people. Look what insanity delivered to us in 2016.

I do not know Col. Gerry Leonard, nor do I know Gabe Amo, and since I am an independent I voted for neither. But if anyone should be considered for any political office it is the person who served his or her country honorably and took the oath to protect and defend the Constitution and our country, and not make it the mockery of the prior administration.

So yes, I do understand the meaning of insanity, I was able to witness it on January 6th when this great country of ours was briefly, and fortunately unsuccessfully, turned into a third world country for all the world to see.
