To the editor:
Tommy Joyce’s op-ed on "A lifeline for those battling substance use disorder” (Sept. 13) is a call to an inclusive audience. The op-ed’s subtitle might very well be "Better living through compassion."
We are all, in our own ways, lifestyle coaches. Our Lived experiences are invaluable because every life challenge that is endured prepares us to meaningfully share life with others. And sharing our lives is an act of love. The love shared among people who are recovered from (and are helping others recovering from) substance use is unmeasurable.
It must always remain our hope that we coach each other wisely. Knowing of locally available resources like the 988 Lifeline is part of that wisdom.
