We are told that the U.S. Department of Justice has now charged more than 200 alleged seditionist/insurrectionists with a variety of crimes, including assault on police officers, aggravated assault, theft, trespass, and other crimes of mayhem in our most sacred building. Many are facing – rightly, in my opinion – years in prison if convicted.
But how about the instigators? What of the elected officials and others who lied to, encouraged and incited the terrorists who attacked the Capitol? What about lawyers Giuliani, Lin and Powell, who spread fairy tales about a stolen election to rally the gullible?
How about Sen. Hawley raising his fist to the mob in solidarity, or Ted Cruz inciting them from the back of a flatbed truck. Then there is “Junior” threatening primaries, and the odious Rep. Mel Brooks (Q-AL) who, just minutes before Trump sent his mob to the Capitol, exhorted the mob to “take names and kick ass”?
It is my fervent hope that a U.S. Attorney, the Attorney General of D.C., or the new Attorney General of the U.S. will seriously investigate these seditionist instigators (including Trump the Elder) and make them face penalties at least as severe as their unwitting and uninformed disciples.
