The East Bay Regional Coalition recently completed year one of a 5-year grant totaling $625,000 from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration to conduct mental health awareness trainings for community members in the East Bay region.
The goal of the trainings is to connect more people to needed resources. The project serves people who live or work in East Providence, Barrington, Warren, and Bristol.
The mental health awareness trainings program is currently offering two free “Stronger Together” workshops to the public. The “Stronger Together” program focuses on learning about mental health, promoting mental health, identifying when someone may be struggling with their mental health, and how to reach out when someone is struggling.
Workshops are open to the public and are being offered at the East Providence Senior Center on Wednesday, Oct. 26 from 4:30 to 6:45 p.m. and at the Barrington Public Library on Nov. 17 from 4:30 to 6:45 p.m. To register, please go to eastbaymhat.com and follow the link or call 401-247-1900 ext. 346.
To learn more about other opportunities available through the mental health awareness trainings grant, including getting your own group, organization, or place of employment trained in mental health awareness, please contact Jordyn Hagar, MHAT project director, at EastBayMHAT@gmail.com.
