Girls' volleyball, tennis drop outings

The Mt. Hope High School boys' soccer club ventured out on the road to begin the new week, returning home with a 4-2 victory over West Warwick in a Division II contest played Tuesday, Sept. 8.

Cole Tavares potted a pair of goals for the Huskies, who improved to 2-0-1 on the season. Mason Reis had two assists. Andrew Vieira made five saves in net. Nuno Caetano and Tom Levis accounted for the other tallies.

Mt. Hope started up the home portion of its league slate Friday afternoon, Sept. 4, when the Huskies hosted Narragansett at Roger Williams University.

MHHS and the Mariners, coming off a 2-0 loss to D-I Chariho in their first regular season match, played to a 3-all draw. Levis, Reis and Cole Tavares scored goals for the Huskies. Levis also added an assist. Vieira was credited with seven saves.

Girls' volleyball
The MHHS girls' volleyball club closed out last week with a 3-0 loss also in an away match against Cumberland, Thursday, Sept. 3.

The Clippers won by the scores of 25-15, 25-23 and 26-24. Margaret Thorp had 15 kills, 12 digs and an ace for the locals. Hayden Sylvia had 11 assists. Gianna Soares had 12 digs.

The Huskies returned home to open the new week, falling to East Providence by a 3-1 count in a D-I match. The visiting Townies won by the scores of 25-21, 20-25, 32-20 and 25-15.

Thorp had 10 kills and four blocks. Maya Costa added seven kills and 16 digs. Sylvia set for 22 assists and had four digs.

Girls' soccer
The MHHS girls' soccer team picked up its first win of 2026 to end last week, a 3-0 victory over host East Providence in a Division I contest on September 3.

Sara Nencka potted a brace for the locals. Brooke Avila added the other tally. Olivia Overy and Macy Brodd each had assists. Moira Ware needed to make just three saves in net for the Huskies to record the clean-sheet.

The Huskies started the new week with a 3-1 road win over rival Barrington in another league outing September 8.

Brodd, Emma Goglia and Julia Fox scored the Mt. Hope goals. Overy was credited with an assist. Ware made three saves as MHHS improved to 2-2-0 at the time.

Girls' tennis
The MHHS girls' tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to host Cumberland in a Division II away match to begin the week.

The No. 2 doubles tandem of Lily Parisi and Marissa Cabral picked up the lone point for the locals with their 6-2, 6-4 win.

Mt. Hope's No. 1 doubles team of Ava Cabral and Charlotte Arsenault dropped a three-setter in another tight match by the scores of 4-6, 6-1 and 6-2.
