The Mt. Hope Masqueraders are thrilled to present “SpongeBob SquarePants: The Musical!” for two shows, on Thursday, April 27 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, April 29 at 7 p.m. at the Mt. Hope Performing Arts Center at Mt. Hope Hope High School in Bristol.
The show was specifically chosen to appeal to the younger students in BWRSD in hopes of getting more students excited about our performing arts department. Additionally, picking a show that is entertaining to all demographics and universally familiar brings a fresh enthusiasm to the cast, while simultaneously exciting Bristol and Warren residents to see the students perform as the beloved characters.
In this musical adaptation of Nickelodeon’s long-running animated children’s sitcom of the same name, we find ourselves in the undersea city of Bikini Bottom, inhabited by ever-optimistic, yellow sea sponge SpongeBob SquarePants and his equally quirky circle of friends and neighbors. SpongeBob’s happy-go-lucky existence is abruptly interrupted when it is discovered that Mt. Humongous, a nearby volcano, will erupt within the next 48 hours and completely obliterate Bikini Bottom! Determined to prove to himself and the world that he is not “just a simple sponge,” SpongeBob teams up with Sandy Cheeks and Patrick Star to try to save the day before it’s too late.
The production, directed by Mackenzie Maron, features a cast including MHHS Masqueraders co-presidents Jeff Gonzalez and Casey Little, and a crew featuring stage manager Taylor Mason, who also conducts the group’s publicity.
“Our students have been working so hard to put on this production and we are very excited for the community to enjoy it,” said superintendent Ana Riley.
Tickets are available at the door. Tickets for students and seniors cost $10, while general admission is $15.
