Tracy's Cream and Sugar brings caffeinated sweetness to Main Street

Posted

Tracy Woodard heard the comments for years since she opened the Perfect Sweet Shoppe on Joyce Street in Warren in 2018 following her start making scrumptious French macarons at Hope & Main in 2017.

“We had no idea you guys were here, you should open a spot on Main Street!”

Easier said than done, she said, but now she’s done exactly that. Tracy’s Cream and Sugar, located at 458 Main St., opened on May 27.

Woodard opened the brightly lit shop as an expansion of the success experienced at Perfect Sweet, and while it certainly serves to complement her existing business, it also offers plenty of new options for those looking for a cup of specialty coffee, breakfast sandwich or baked good.

“We are a full service coffee shop. We carry Borealis Coffee for our drip and our cold brew. We have a full line of espresso drinks [sourced locally from Cranston]. We have bagels from the Bronx, which we’re really excited about,” Woodard said. “We make breakfast sandwiches, toast and croissants, we have some gluten free selections. And we offer baked goods that are made at Perfect Sweet.”

There are also plans to begin making and customizing their own donuts in house, eventually, but for now a wide array of choices from Knead will have to do (and true donut fans already know that is absolutely not a compromise).

The new shop also enabled Woodard to move their 24 varieties of ice cream from the Perfect Sweet Shoppe to Main Street.

For the caffeine addled, Woodard said it was part of the business plan to offer a more specialized coffee experience at Tracy’s Cream and Sugar.

“It’s very important to me to offer more than just a cup of coffee,” she said. “We always have one fully trained barista on staff at all times. We make it right, we make it consistent. One of the fun things about being a baker, and I like to consider myself a flavor specialist, is coming up with new ideas, whether its new ideas for coffee drinks or other products.”

One of those creations coming soon: a coffee milk inspiration with the caffeine content significantly boosted.

“I call it ‘grownup’ coffee milk,” she said.

A longtime Barrington resident, Woodard moved to Warren last year, and said she has been amazed by the kindness and warmth received from the community. She also has deep familial ties to Warren already; her great aunt and uncle opened the beloved local diner, Rod’s Grille.

“I love the Warren community. I have been treated so well and I truly feel like embraced,” she said. “I think that everybody is so supportive and everybody, for the most part, is so supported by one another.”

Tracy’s Cream and Sugar is open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Sundays, with plans to expand hours to 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. during the summer months.
