Warren PD: A late night welder and disruptive skateboarders

Monday, May 2
A caller reported at 1:01 p.m. that people had been camping in the cemetery on Massasoit Ave. Police reported only debris was left when they arrived.

Tuesday, May 3
Police assisted with loose cattle located near Libby Lane at 12:59 p.m. They were returned about an hour later safely.

A caller on Cutler Street reported at 1:21 p.m. that items had been stolen from their residence.

Police dispersed a skateboarder from a parking lot on Main Street at 5:35 p.m.

A caller on Child Street reported at 9:28 p.m. that she believed a neighbor had stolen her keys from her door when she left them in the lock. Police determined she had lost them and the neighbor did not steal them. She later found the keys.

A caller on Main Street reported a group of juveniles had congregated behind a church near a shed and were acting suspicious around 10:10 p.m. They fled through neighbors’ yards when police arrived a few minutes later and evaded capture.

Wednesday, May 4
A loud noise complaint on Main Street at 7:57 p.m. was not identified by police.

Thursday, May 5
An overheated Xbox emitting a burning plastic smell led to a residence on Child Street to be evacuated at 4:50 a.m.

A RIPTA bus struck a parked vehicle on Water Street at 9:44 a.m.

The animal control officer checked on a possibly sick raccoon on Everett Street at 1:58 p.m. and found it to be in healthy order.

Police searched for a skateboarder who was reportedly weaving in and out of traffic on Child Street around 3:02 p.m.

Dena Paiva, 51, of Barrington, was arrested on a local warrant at 6:50 p.m. on Federal Road in Barrington. She was charged with simple assault and/or battery and disorderly conduct, and was arraigned and released later that evening.

Police issued a traffic violation to a noisy dirt biker near Ridgeway Drive, which was originally reported by Bristol PD, at 6:57 p.m.

Friday, May 6
A person reported as suspicious, wearing a safety vest walking around Strawberry Lane at 12:45 a.m., was simply a RIDOT worker.

Police reported multiple Adirondack chairs that were left on the basketball court on Water Street at 8:37 a.m., one of which was damaged. DPW was notified to pick up the chairs.

A possibly sick groundhog was reported on Market Street at 1:00 p.m. Animal control located the animal shortly afterwards but it ran off into the woods.

A suspicious man was reported to be loitering around the area of Water Street at 4:09 p.m. after already being advised by police once. He was again sent on his way.

Police searched for a man who had refused to leave a Main Street establishment and then had a verbal argument at 8:42 p.m. He left the establishment before police showed up and they did not locate the man.

Saturday, May 7
An Orchard Avenue resident reported at 9:05 a.m. that they had video evidence of kids attempting to break into a shed on the property overnight. They wanted the event to be documented.

A late night welder on Water Street was reported by an anonymous caller at 11:38 a.m. The industrial night owl was sent on their way by police.

Sunday, May 8
A caller on Metacom Avenue reported at 12:39 a.m. that a driver had just struck the porch on their home and fled the scene. Police found the vehicle nearby with no one inside. Police asked Bristol PD to assist in the search for the driver. The accident was reported to National Grid, as the driver struck a pole as well.

The Warren Fire Department responded to a mattress that had caught fire on the second floor of a Market Street residence at 6:05 a.m. Red Cross was notified to assist with the residents affected.

Another possibly sick raccoon was reported on Barden Lane at 1:59 p.m. This one also was lost when it retreated to the woodbine.

Sadie Medina, 46, of Warren, was arrested on a 6th District Court warrant on Long Wharf Drive at 3:17 p.m. They were transported to the ACI later that day.

A passerby on Church Street reported a can was on fire at 6:13 p.m. in front of a residence. An officer who responded found it was a can full of cigarettes and was able to extinguish the can themselves.
