A portion of Metacom Avenue was shut down to traffic for multiple hours on Friday night following an accident involving two pedestrians, including one small child.
Warren Police Lieutenant Christopher Perreault provided the following update on Saturday afternoon.
“I can confirm that the Warren Police Department responded to a motor vehicle accident in Warren on Friday at approximately 6:45 p.m. involving two pedestrians who were struck by a single vehicle while crossing Metacom Avenue. The operator of the involved vehicle remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation. The two involved pedestrians who were struck were a 26-year-old female and 3-year-old child. The adult female was transported to Rhode Island Hospital for serious injuries while the child was transported to Hasbro Hospital to be treated for her injuries as well. The incident is still under investigation and no charges have been filed at this time.”
Reached on Monday, Perreault had no updated status on the health of the woman or the child.
