Question: How can the School Committee positively impact teacher morale?

Frazier Bell (I) — “I have heard over and over that teachers feel unheard. We need to listen to teacher concerns, include a teacher as a non-voting member of the committee; teacher union should be invited to address SC, create a formal survey to collect teacher feedback and SC should regularly visit schools.”

Rudy Seber (D) — “Listen, define their pain points, socialize them with the appropriate stakeholders & always be overt about the actions we will be taking to address them. Empowerment and recognition is the key to not only improving their morale but our children’s overall educational experience. Thank you teachers for all that you do!”

Margaret Reid (D) — “We need to find better avenues for communication with the Union, small groups, and individual teachers. We need to foster a culture of respect. Episodes of hostility toward educators, through social media and the newspaper, make a bad situation worse. Morale improves when people understand they are valued and respected.”

TJ Peck (I) — “Barrington already knows the answer. We must return to the proven formula that has previously worked for decades. The School Committee and central school administration must treat our teachers and staff with the respect that they deserve and ensure that their voices are heard by all decision makers.”
