What do Voronoi bunnies, Taylor Swift swag, steampunk octopi with articulated arms, and Shrek have in common?

They were all 3D printed at the two-hour hands-on introductory class to 3D printing offered at the Barrington town camp Endeavor earlier this summer.

Declan Maddock and his brother and Ronan, along with their tech support brother Kilian and dad Audoen had fun developing the business idea and launching the course through the summer camp.

Growing up, the Maddock boys had exposure to 3D printing because their dad was an early adopter of the technology. The boys realized that others may not have the same exposure to the basic technology so they designed this class to introduce more kids to 3D printing.

The campers learned the fundamentals of 3D printing on three easy to use Prusa Minis. The kids had fun browsing in 3D model websites such as thingiverse.com and printable.com to pick out their own designs paired with the software PrusaSlicer.

Declan and Ronan taught them how to load and unload printers while showcasing the fundamentals for different plastics and filaments available including ABS, PLA and PETG.

The campers also used Scrib3d pens to construct colorful namesake keychains, glasses and butterflies. This new “toy” let the campers use their creativity to 3D build a customized piece of art.
