Two Barrington Firefighters rescued a dog that fell through the ice at Brickyard Pond last week.

Police and fire received a 911 call at 3:24 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 31 — the caller said a dog had wandered onto the ice at the pond and fell through.

Barrington’s first responders quickly drove to Brickyard Pond and located the dog. A short time later, two firefighters — Dave Morelle and Jared Pedro — had put on special ice rescue suits and were making their way across the ice to the dog.

The firefighters secured the dog and carried it back to the shore. Officials said the dog was OK despite the unexpected winter dip.
