Barrington High School field hockey wins three straight

Eagles knock off defending state champs, 1-0

The Barrington High School field hockey team has opened the season with three victories, including a 1-0 win over the defending state champs on Friday, Sept. 6. 

The Eagles’ Emma Mueller scored the lone goal off an assist from Olivia Pereira on a penalty corner. Meanwhile Emily Horn, Roxana Mohammadi, Holly Moscrop and Alandra Vicioso all made key plays for the Eagles. BHS goalie Katie McAdams made one save in the victory.

On Saturday, the Eagles faced off against Portsmouth Abbey and cruised to an 8-1 victory. Barrington’s captain Addyson Whittet scored four goals, while Emma Mueller scored three and assisted on another. Primrose Anderson scored a goal, Abby Griffin had two assists, Sophia Scandura had one assist, and Captain Ava Anderson finished with an assist.  

On Monday night, Sept. 9, the Eagles beat North Kingstown 3-0. Primrose Anderson scored the first goal off an assist from Muller, who scored the other two goals. Paige Davignon, Shelby Gasbarro, Mohammadi and Horn all played well. 

“All three wins were the result of a full team commitment,” said Barrington High School Coach Anne Gasbarro.

The JV team has won both its games. BHS beat East Greenwich on Friday 2-0, with goals scored by Scandura and Mackenzie Plourde with Griffin logging the two assists. Robinson had one save and Ella Mejia finished with two saves. Clare Capozza and Anna Bahena made stellar plays for the Eagles. Barrington’s JV team defeated North Kingstown 3-0. Vamika Singh started the scoring off an assist from Griffin, who then scored goal number two. Capozza scored the third goal off an assist from Scandura. Reese Mancini held down the midfield.
