A longtime Barrington teacher received a Golden Apple Award from the Rhode Island Department of Education and NBC 10 this week.
On Tuesday, Feb. 14, RIDE Deputy Commissioner of Education Lisa Odom-Villella and Channel 10 news anchor Patrice Wood presented Primrose Hill School music teacher Mark Vadnais with a Golden Apple Award. He was recognized for his dedication to students during his many years at Barrington schools and his commitment to making his classes a creative and safe space to learn.
The letter nominating Vadnais for the award stated that he is “such a caring individual and brings joy wherever he goes.” That message was on display on Tuesday morning, Feb. 14, when state education officials and media representatives visited Primrose Hill School. Students lined the hallway during the special ceremony and sang a song for their music teacher.
Vadnais, a graduate of Berklee College of Music, has worked in Barrington schools for nearly three decades.
