Barrington Police Chief Michael Correia was proud to hold a special promotion/swearing-in ceremony at the public library auditorium last week.

On Wednesday, Dec. 21, a large crowd turned out for the event — officers’ family and friends and also former Barrington Police Chiefs John LaCross and Dino DeCrescenzo attended the ceremony.

Kevin Igoe was promoted to captain. Capt. Igoe is a 27-year veteran of the Barrington Police Department and oversees all division commanders and lieutenants. He is also the lead firearms instructor for the department and has served as a field training officer. 

Benjamin Ferreira, Esq. was promoted to lieutenant detective commander. Lt. Ferreira is a 20-year veteran of the local police department and as commander of the detective division he oversees all of the department’s major investigations, adult criminal prosecution and juvenile investigation and prosecution. 

Wesley McCoy, Jr. was promoted to lieutenant, administrative division commander. He is a 27-year veteran of the local police department. As commander of the administrative division, Lt. McCoy oversees the department’s accreditation office, the fleet of vehicles and the field training program. He is also the department’s senior accident reconstruction specialist, and is a member of the RI Criminalist Association. 

Timothy Oser was promoted to lieutenant. He is the patrol commander for the police department. 

John Sgagliardish, Christopher Aylward, Kristy Viveiros and David Wyrostek were promoted to sergeants, and officers Ryan Boraski, Cameron Rodrigues, Kelsey Maynard, Joel Saccoccio, and Adam Duarte were publicly sworn-in.
