A Glen Avenue resident called Barrington Police shortly after midnight on Thursday, Aug. 24 to report a man banging on the door and attempting to gain access to her vehicle.

Police officers responded to the home and located the suspect — a Barrington man in his 60s. Officers detained the man; police said they were familiar with him.

The suspect told police his boat ran out of gas and he came ashore for help. Police said they could not locate any boat in the waters near Glen Avenue.

Police questioned the man for a while and then released him.
