Barrington’s summer concert series moving to town beach

Electrical issue at Latham Park forces re-location

Barrington is moving its summer concerts to a new location.

Starting this Sunday, the concerts will be held at Barrington Beach.

Barrington Recreation Department Director Michele Geremia said there have been electrical issues at Latham Park, which had been hosting the summer concert series.

“The salt air has corroded the underground wires and the circuits keep overheating and tripping,” Geremia wrote in an email to the Barrington Times.

According to Geremia, the town is in the process of getting an estimate to move the electrical box at Latham Park.

Geremia confirmed that all the concert times will remain the same, despite the new location. All shows begin at 6 p.m.

The summer concert series is no stranger to Barrington Beach — the concerts had been held at the beach until a few years ago.

This Sunday’s show will feature Violin River. Blue FO’s will perform on Aug. 6, while Roger Cerise’s Allstarz play Aug. 13, Trinity takes the stage on Aug. 20, and the series concludes with Brass Attack on Aug. 27.

The Town of Barrington and BankNewport co-sponsor the concert series.
