Barrington Police responded to a number of dog-related incidents last week. 

On Saturday, Oct. 8, police received a call from someone at Haines Park who said she had just witnessed a man abusing his dog. The woman said the man slammed the dog’s head into the ground. The woman said the dog was a tan and white collie. She also offered a description of the man’s vehicle — a tan colored Toyota Camry. Police searched the area but could not find the vehicle. Police will continue to monitor the area for the suspect.

On Friday, Oct. 7, a Barrington resident called police requesting information — the woman said one of her dogs had attacked the other; the attack was so serious that the injured dog had to be euthanized. The resident was seeking advice on how to surrender the other dog. In the meantime, the attacking dog was ordered to observe a 10-day quarantine. 

On Thursday, Oct. 6, a Barrington resident called police after her dog was attacked by two other dogs while she was walking her dog at Latham Park. She said the attacking dogs were off-leash. Police are trying to determine whose dogs they were.

On Monday, Oct. 3, a Barrington woman stopped into the police station to report an incident that occurred while she was walking her dog that evening. The woman told police an animal, possibly a cat, ambushed her dog while they were walking. Her dog was bleeding from its nose after the incident. The woman said her dog was up to date on its shots.
