There is a new committee in Barrington and it has a lot of members.
The Barrington Bicycle-Pedestrian Advisory Committee has 11 full voting members and four alternate non-voting members. The committee is charged with advising the town administration, Planning Board and Town Council on bicycle and pedestrian projects, plans and policies, and fostering a transparent process for decisions regarding bicycles and pedestrians.
The Town Council appointed members to the Bicycle-Pedestrian Advisory Committee during a meeting on Monday night, March 6.
After interviewing a large group of interested applicants, the council decided to expand the committee size from nine members to 15. That allowed the council to appoint everyone who showed up for an interview.

The Bicycle-Pedestrian Advisory Committee will provide input to the town on major projects, including state projects — Complete Streets Plan implementation, bridge projects, off-road bicycle and pedestrian facilities, street repaving and comprehensive plan updates.
According to Barrington Town Manager Phil Hervey, the committee’s first task will be working with the engineering consultant VHB in helping to develop a Complete Streets strategy for improvements to Lincoln Avenue.
BPAC will also be tasked with making recommendations on subdivision and land development proposals that are being reviewed by the Planning Board and Technical Review Committee, and the committee will be evaluating how projects comply with the town’s Complete Streets plan.
