Barrington High School Stagemasters will perform “Curtains: School Edition” this weekend, Nov. 18 to 20.  

The musical mystery comedy is directed by Meaghan Corr and centers around police lieutenant Frank Cioffi (played by BHS senior Max Bleakney) as he investigates the murder of an actress. Set in 1959 Boston, Mass., there are lots of suspects and plenty of motives to go around. The audience is taken behind the scenes of a musical production as Lt. Cioffi, who moonlights as an actor in community theatre, tries to decipher fact from fiction.

“The lines between reality and the world of the stage are truly blurred as the audience simultaneously watches rehearsals for a broadway bound production as the actors switch back and forth from their on and offstage personas,” stated a Stagemasters press release.  

This play within a play has allowed many of the Stagemasters technicians to take center stage. 

Emma Marvelli, who plays Nikki in the show, also serves as assistant director and is choreographing a dance number as part of her BHS senior Project.  

The rest of the dancing has been choreographed by student choreographer, Maya Gomez Del Campo.  

Senior Ryan Medeiros uses her talents and experience on the sound board as sound designer for the show, and Nolan Sheehan has taken the lead his senior year as the assistant technical director. 

Willow Rathbone, also a senior, serves as stage manager for the show.  

The all-student tech crew is run under the guidance of Barrington High School alumnus, Patrick Sheehan, who returns to his alma mater for his debut show as technical director for the production.

• Friday and Saturday, Nov. 18 and 19 at 7 p.m.

• Sunday, Nov. 20 at 2 p.m.

• Tickets are $5 for students and $10 for adults, and will be sold at the door.  

• All performances will be held in the John Gray Auditorium, at Barrington High School
