Sara Campion-Egan carefully chose the name of her business.

Gilded Lily Medspa, located on Maple Avenue in Barrington, specializes in enhancing a person’s natural beauty. The medical aesthetics boutique offers neurotoxin injections which smooth and relax facial lines.

“The name Gilded Lily means enhancing something that’s already beautiful,” Campion-Egan said during a recent interview. “People are already beautiful.”

Campion-Egan said her clients range in age, and their reasons for enhancing their own natural beauty vary. Some of her work, she said, is done as a preventative measure. 

“It stops you from making those lines,” she said. 

Campion-Egan has worked in primary care for a number of years — she is a nurse practitioner and was drawn to aesthetic injections because she enjoys doing procedures and working with her hands. 

“I also believe that when people look good, they feel good, improving self-confidence and quality of life,” Campion-Egan wrote in an email. 

She has trained with some of the region's most respected plastic surgeons and aesthetic nurse practitioners, and focuses on client safety and personal connections.

“I’m trying to address what the person is looking for and get the effect they’re looking for in the safest and most comfortable way for them,” Campion-Egan said. 

The treatments are usually quick and last for three to four months. In fact, Campion-Egan said clients often spend more time discussing the enhancements and filling out forms than they do receiving the injections. 

“The treatment itself is very quick,” she said. 

Campion-Egan said her approach is one where she starts at the lowest dose she believes necessary to be effective. 

“If we need more, we can do more,” she said. 

Clients may experience a brief period of redness, “but by the time they leave (the office), it’s gone.”

Campion-Egan said Gilded Lily Medspa can be found in the same location as Simply Skin on Maple Avenue — she rents a room there. In fact, Campion-Egan went to Simply Skin to get a facial and a short time later, she had worked out a deal with the owners to rent a room.

“Paige and Lynne of Simply Skin have been great supporters of Gilded Lily and have helped me build my clientele,” she said. 

Campion-Egan said she has a number of returning clients. When asked what sets Gilded Lily apart from other businesses that offer the same service, Campion-Egan said: “I think because I focus on the safety and really the personal connection, trying to address what the person is looking for and get the effect they’re looking for in the safest and most comfortable way for them.”
