The Barrington High School boys outdoor track team made history on Saturday, winning the track state championship at Connelly Stadium in Providence.

In 100 years of outdoor track and field records, Barrington High School had never won a team championship.

Barrington scored 120 team points and finished ahead of second place Hendricken (108.5 points), third place LaSalle (96 points) and 30 other teams.

Barrington had three individual state championship performances, set five new school records, and 14 All-State athletes.

“I could not have been prouder of this team today,” Barrington High School Coach Bill Barrass wrote in an email to the Barrington Times. “They are very, very deserving of the State Champions title. The best track and field team Barrington has ever had.”

Barrass wrote that every point the team earned played a crucial role in securing the state title.

“This is a complete team, and everyone did their job,” he said.

Barrington High School senior Ethan Knight saved some of his best performances for the state meet. Knight won the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 38.40 seconds and also won the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.31 seconds.

Knight also set a new school record in the 300-meter race.

Barrington High School sophomore Patrick Trainor won the long jump with a distance of 22 feet, 3 inches. His teammate and fellow sophomore Caleb Satisfield finished second in the event with a jump of 21 feet, 11.5 inches.

Bobby Wind finished second in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.55 seconds.

Barrington’s 4x100-meter relay team of Iain DeBoth, Knight, Charly Potter, and Wind, and the 4x800-meter relay team of Marius Bonard, Daniel Chun, Michael Chun, and Fritz Muehlbauer both finished second. The 4x800-meter relay team set a new school record with a time of 8:00.11. The 4x400-meter relay team of DeBoth, Will DiGiacomo, Knight, and Myles Napolitano finished third overall.
