Barrington Police responded to a standoff between a RIPTA bus and a Providence man late Tuesday night, Oct. 4.

Police said the incident occurred at a bus stop on County Road at about 10:40 p.m. A man was standing in front of the bus and refusing to move.

Police spoke to the man, a Providence resident. He said he works as a custodian at a business in town and a night earlier he had been waiting for the bus to get a ride home and the bus sped past the stop.

Police also spoke to the bus driver. There had allegedly been a small altercation between the two individuals. No one was charged.

The Providence man’s supervisor at work stopped by and gave the man a ride home.
