Barrington volleyball team defeats Central and West Warwick

Godwin, Kelley and Ciummo pace Eagles against Knights

The Barrington High School boys volleyball team defeated Central last Tuesday 3-1. The game scores were 25-14, 24-26, 25-17, 25-17.

Maddox Godwin led the Eagles with 13 kills and six digs. Cam Kelley contributed with nine kills, three aces and six digs. James Ciummo also played well. He finished with nine kills and three key blocks. 

“The Eagles are truly embracing the ‘team’ concept,” Coach Christian Lambert wrote to the Barrington Times. “Everyone is making a contribution to this season’s success.”

On Thursday, May 4, the Eagles hosted West Warwick and defeated the Wizards 3-0. The game scores were 25-20, 25-10, 25-16.

Barrington’s attackers had another strong performance — Kelley finished with 13 kills, Godwin had 12 kills, and Max Oberacker and Ciummo had six kills each. SangMin Park finished the game with 33 assists, and the Eagles had a season-high 91 percent serving percentage.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986.
