EAST PROVIDENCE — The Primary Election for the vacant Rhode Island United State Congressional District 1 Special Election takes place Tuesday, Sept. 5.

In East Providence, voting takes place at the following five sites across the city from 7 a.m.-8 p.m. : East Providence City Hall, 145 Taunton Ave.; Ward 1: City View Manor - 99 Goldsmith Ave.; Ward 2: St. Francis Xavier Church - 81 N. Carpenter St.; Ward 3: St. Martha’s Church - 2595 Pawtucket Ave.' Ward 4: Crescent Park Manor - 243 Crescent View Ave.

The following are the list of candidates running in the respective Democratic and Republican special primaries on: Democratic candidates — Gabe Amo, Stephanie Beauté, Walter Berbrick, Sandra Cano, Stephen Casey, Spencer Dickinson, John Goncalves, Sabina Matos, Ana Quezada, J. Aaron Regunberg, Allen Waters.

Republican candidates — Terri Flynn, Gerry Leonard.

Note, the name of candidate Don Carlson will appear on the ballot for the Democratic nomination, however he ended his campaign last weekend amid controversy over alleged text exchanges with a student when he was a professor at Williams College. He threw his support behind Cano.
