PORTSMOUTH — The Patriots varsity football team enjoyed a little home cooking on Saturday against Cranston East.

Portsmouth blanked the Thunderbolts, 19-0, during the annual Homecoming game.

The win improved the Patriots’ record to 3-3 in Division II-B and 3-5 overall.

The team will get a little rest before its annual Thanksgiving Day matchup with Middletown, which this year will be held on the road. Kickoff is at 10 a.m. at Gaudet Middle School in Middletown on Thursday, Nov. 23.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far.
