PORTSMOUTH — The Portsmouth High varsity football team dropped its second straight game last Thursday, Nov. 9, when it lost a non-league contest to Westerly at home, 21-8.

Portsmouth was leading at halftime, 6-0, but the Bulldogs stormed back to score two touchdowns in the third quarter, and another in the fourth.

The Patriots collected 115 total yards (69 yards passing, 46 rushing), while Westerly had 242 yards (126 through the air, 116 on the ground).

The Division II Patriots were shut out by Cumberland on Nov. 3 on the road, 24-0.

For the annual Thanksgiving Day game on Thursday, Nov. 23, the Patriots will travel to Gaudet Middle School to play Middletown at 10 a.m. The Islanders will compete for the Division III Super Bowl title when they face West Warwick on Saturday, Nov. 18.
