PORTSMOUTH — If there ever was a close shutout, this was it.

The Portsmouth High girls’ varsity volleyball team blanked South Kingstown last Thursday at home, 3-0, but every set was decided by just two points: 27-25, 25-23, and 26-24.

The Division I-A Patriots, which have a 7-5 conference record and are 7-6 overall, have now gone 7-2 since starting the season off with four straight losses.

Portsmouth will play tonight (Oct. 17) at home against La Salle Academy, and also host North Kingstown at home on Wednesday, Oct. 19.

The team will host Mount Saint Charles Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 21, and then host a Pink Out tournament against Mt. Hope and Middletown starting at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22.

The Patriots will travel to West Warwick for a 6 p.m. game on Tuesday, Oct. 25, before visiting Prout School at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 27.
