Letter: The dedication displayed by Jim Nott is unmatched

To the editor:

The Town of Portsmouth needs more residents like Jim Nott. Jim has consistently demonstrated leadership and made significant contributions to our community by volunteering 23-plus years on the Zoning Board of Review (ZBR) and as a high school soccer coach and basketball scorekeeper.

ZBR members spend countless hours reviewing documents, drawings, and technical reports to protect the quality of life we all cherish. At a recent meeting, Jim casually mentioned that before the meeting even began he spent 10 hours reviewing documents for a controversial special use permit only to be told that many documents have been changed. His dedication is unmatched.

Jim has always treated everyone who attends meetings and willing to speak with the utmost respect and courtesy. My favorite Maya Angelou quote is: “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”

Jim makes everyone feel valued! A trait we do not find often at town committee meetings. Thank you for your service to the our community.
