PORTSMOUTH — Here are recent arrests made by the Portsmouth Police Department:

Monday, Sept. 9

Marcelo Garcia Arevalo, 36, of 159 Ophelia St., Apt. 1, Providence, was charged with forgery and counterfeiting of registration plates, and giving a false document to an agent or public official. The arrest took place following a motor vehicle stop on Route 24 North at Boyds Lane shortly before 6 p.m.

Wednesday, Sept. 11

Robert Christopher Laureanno, 53, of 3030 East Main Road, was charged with domestic cyberstalking and cyber-harassment. Laureanno turned himself in to police at about 11 a.m. after an arrest warrant for the charge had been issued, police said. The victim was a 30-year-old man from Middletown, according to police. 

Thursday, Sept. 12

Adam D. Loizzo, 44, of 1 Cliff Drive, Bristol, was charged with driving under the influence, first offense. He was arrested around 8 p.m. after officers responded to a call for service in the area of 527 Bristol Ferry Road. He was held overnight until his arraignment in 2nd District Court the following morning.

Friday, Sept. 13

Tanner E. Banta, 24, of 53 Dove St., was charged with domestic simple assault/battery. Newport Police arrested Banta on a Portsmouth warrant at about 8 a.m. The victim was a 67-year-old woman who lives in Portsmouth, according to police.

Sunday, Sept. 15

Cameron S. Mello, 24, of 28 Ethel Drive, was charged with domestic cyberstalking and cyber-harassment shortly before noon. Mello had continually harassed a 26-year-old Portsmouth woman and was arrested at his home, according to police.

Matthew J. Rustad, of no permanent address, was charged with disorderly conduct (fighting/tumultuous behavior). Police made the arrest at about 6 p.m. after responding to a report of a man acting disorderly in the roadway in the area of St. Anthony’s Church on East Main Road. When they arrived, officers found Rustad yelling at passing motorists while he stood in the middle of the road and obstructing traffic, according to police.
