Question: If elected to the Barrington Town Council, what would be your top priority — what would be the one item you would want to add to your first Council meeting agenda?

Bryan Hoffman (I) — “Belton Court.  This is my biggest priority because it provides the biggest opportunity for the town. There are 39 undeveloped acres of land and so much untapped potential for housing, senior housing, open green space, commerce and even a sports complex.”

Liana Cassar (D) — “This is a two-part question. My priority is affordability. Residents young and old, and those with disruptions to their financial situation, get priced out of Barrington. Separately, a topic to add to the agenda is boards and commissions recruitment. We’re perennially short on candidates, which limits Barrington’s ability to accomplish its goals.”

Brian Hughes (I) — “As a member of the Town Council, my first priority would be to assess the morale and performance of our town employees. I would initiate a survey to gain valuable insights, ensuring that we understand their needs and concerns to create a more effective and motivated workforce.”

Derick Daley (I) — “My top priority is to ensure our government is singularly focused on serving the people of Barrington, particularly those who've contributed so much to the town already. I will focus on alleviating the growing tax burden on senior citizens, repairing relations with my fellow veterans, and ensuring taxpayer's money is responsibly managed.”

Kerry O’Neill (D) — “My priority would be to support the Ready & Resilient Barrington plan and to push for even more responses to climate change. I would add a Resiliency Report to our agendas. The Report would communicate what the town has done, is doing, and needs to do to confront climate change.”

Jordan Jancosek (D) — “My top priority is beginning to work towards an immediate solution for better drainage, stormwater runoff, and alleviating the flooding that plagues our neighborhoods. I would also immediately begin work on traffic calming measures on our streets - crosswalks and clearer pedestrian crossing signage.”
