Barrington High School teams get ready for fall sports season

Most teams start on Aug. 19; football begins Friday

Barrington High School sports teams are preparing for the start of the fall season. 

The BHS football team will kick off the official start of the season when it began practicing today, Aug. 15. The team will be practicing from 8 to 11 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 16 and 17, as well as all next week.

Cross country, cheerleading, field hockey, soccer, girls tennis and girls volleyball will begin practicing on Monday, Aug. 19. 

Any student-athletes planning to participate in a fall sport at Barrington High School must have a physical exam before beginning practice or tryouts. (The school offered free physicals on Tuesday, Aug. 13.) All other required registration and paperwork can be found on the district’s website www.barringtonschools.org as well.

Team meeting schedule 

The BHS football equipment fitting was on Wednesday, Aug. 14. Boys soccer will meet Sunday, Aug. 18 at noon outside of the cafeteria, while all other teams will meet and begin practice on Monday, Aug. 19. (Boys cross country - 7 a.m., field hockey, girls cross country, girls volleyball - 8 a.m., girls tennis - 8:30 a.m., girls soccer - 9 a.m., and cheerleading 3:30 p.m.)
