Barrington team reaches Andreozzi tourney quarterfinals

Posted

The Barrington Little League 8U baseball team lost to Cumberland 13-5 in the quarterfinals on Wednesday, Aug. 7 and was eliminated from the Andreozzi Tournament. Cumberland went on to win the tournament.

Terry Nickel belted two hits and drove in three runs for Barrington. One of Nickel’s hits was a gap double that he hit deep into right-centerfield.

Hudson Lang and Sam Donatelli each scored twice and Donatelli led the team on Wednesday with two steals. Jack Harding also had two hits.

Barrington celebrated its performance in the Andreozzi Tournament with a team party at The Guild in Warren. There, team members presented their manager, Michael Raia, with a signed picture from the cast of The Sandlot. The gift held special significance as earlier in the summer, the team held a special Sandlot movie night in one of the team family’s backyards.
